ICYMI: RNC and MIGOP Lawsuit Claims Detroit Hired Seven Times More Democrat Poll Workers Than Republicans, Violating State Law

Press Releases

In case you missed it, the RNC, Michigan GOP, and the Wayne County Republican Committee Chairman are suing the Election Commission of the City of Detroit over allegations they violated state law by hiring more than seven times more Democratic poll workers than Republicans for the 2024 election.

“Michigan requires that the board of election commissioners “shall appoint an equal number, as nearly as possible, of election inspectors in each election precinct from each major political party,” according to Section 168.74 of the state’s election law.

However, the city of Detroit hired about 2,300 Democratic poll workers and only about 300 Republican election inspectors for the state’s 2024 primary election, according to the Detroit Election Commission Report cited in the lawsuit,” Fox Digital reported.

Michigan Republican Party Chairman Pete Hoekstra issued the followed statement regarding the lawsuit:

“Michigan’s Secretary of State has proven she has no intention of enforcing or respecting our election laws, and the city of Detroit is following suit. Every single Michigander should have full confidence in the integrity of our elections and the security of their vote, and shady actions like refusing to hire an equal number of Republican poll workers has the opposite effect. This suit will help protect our right to free, fair, and transparent elections.”
