Two Weeks Out: The State of the Race

Press Releases

In just two weeks, Michiganders will head to the polls to elect the next president, President Donald J. Trump. The Harris Camp is in full meltdown mode, realizing their so-called “blue wall” is crumbling before their very eyes.

“There has been a thought that maybe Michigan or Wisconsin will fall off,” said a senior Harris campaign official, who stressed that the bigger concern is over Michigan. Two other people with knowledge of campaign strategy — who, like others in this article, were granted anonymity to speak candidly — also underscored deep concern about Michigan.”

So THAT’s why Kamala Harris finally gave Michigan the time of day last week, paying more attention to Michiganders than she has this entire cycle.

Let’s take a look at where the race currently stands:

Messaging: Since Kamala’s media blitz has so far yielded nothing beyond gaffesword salads, and a scandal about CBS’ “60 Minutes” having to edit her interview responses to make them seem “succinct,” Kamala Camp’s messaging has taken one bizarre turn after another. And it’s not being well received – Black men in Michigan are referring to her messaging as ‘disingenuous’. What’s Kamala’s closing message? We’d tell you, but by the time you read this email, it’ll probably have changed again.

Surrogates: Kamala Camp has decided that their top surrogate in the homestretch of a race that they have decided could determine the future of democracy or whatever is… Liz Cheney. The same Liz Cheney who has staked her career on ensuring American lives and treasure is expended on pointless, unwanted wars in the Middle East. No wonder young men eligible for the draft and Arab American voters are hitching their wagon to President Trump.

Down-Ballot Democrats: In the “toss up” Michigan Senate race, Elissa Slotkin has highlighted a bill that she worked on and President Trump signed into law as she tries to cater to Trump voters, notably she has not mentioned Biden or Harris in any paid advertising, despite the fact she voted with Biden-Harris 100% of the time.

Fortunately, Kamala’s got a lot of time over the next two days with no campaign events on the docket to think about these serious issues afflicting her campaign. But since she has two whole interviews over the next two days that will require Augean levels of preparation to keep the gaffes at bay, don’t count on Kamala unburdening herself of what has been.

Bottom Line: Has Kamala Camp tried giving the Joy Machine™ a quick reboot?
