BOMBSHELL: Whitmer Went On A Fundraising Junket To Hollywood And Silicon Valley While COVID-19 Ravaged Michigan
While Michigan Was Drowning In A COVID-19 Surge, Whitmer Was Fundraising On The Progressive Coast Seeking A Campaign Bailout From Hollywood And Big Tech
“The more reports that come out, the more we uncover about Gretchen Whitmer’s priorities which are not to keep Michiganders safe, but rather, to ascend the political ladder while destroying livelihoods,” said Gustavo Portela, MIGOP Communications Director. “Whitmer’s reports not only show she transferred the illegally raised funds in excess of the state’s contribution limits to the Michigan Democrat Party to benefit herself along with her cronies Jocelyn Benson and Dana Nessel, but that she also was missing in action during the most critical days of the state’s pandemic crisis. It’s clear she can’t be trusted to lead the state or keep people safe from this deadly virus. We must retire her and her cronies this fall.”

WHITMER FLEW TO CALIFORNIA TO RAISE MONEY FROM HOLLYWOOD AND BIG TECH
- On November 16, 2021, Whitmer attended a fundraiser at a private home in Los Angeles hosted by former Ambassador to Hungary Colleen Bell.
- Bell was appointed executive director of the California Film Commission by Governor Gavin Newsom.
- FLASHBACK: Bell, who was an Obama bundler, embarrassed Barack Obama during her confirmation hearings for ambassador to Hungary after she could not answer basic questions about Hungary causing Senator John McCain to rail against her on the Senate floor about her lack of experience in diplomacy and politics.
- On November 17, Whitmer attended a dinner hosted by Gretchen Sission in San Francisco.
- Sission thinks Michigan is just a flyover state, an annoyance that can be drowned out by inflight WiFi on her way to a SexTech conference.
- These fundraisers were part of a tour through California involving five private events in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Mill Valley and Palo Alto in which she raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars to her campaign.
- More than 40 percent of Whitmer’s individual contributions came from outside of Michigan with the largest chunk of that coming from California.
- Between October 21 and December 31, Whitmer accepted more than $150,000 in legally dubious excess contributions from 10 donors that exceeded the permissible limit.
- One of the excess contributions was from Brad Falchuk, a writer in Beverly Hills.
- Whitmer offloaded $3.5 million of the nearly $4 million in excess donations to the Michigan Democrat Party after Jocelyn Benson suggested she do so.
- Detroit Free Press: “…Benson said through the Attorney General’s Office that Whitmer gains no unfair advantage from the extra money her campaign has collected because any funds not spent fighting recalls must be returned to donors or donated to a political party or charity.” (Emphasis added)
WHITMER WINED AND DINED WHILE COVID-19 RAVAGED MICHIGAN

- COVID-19 cases exploded 105 percent from 4,266 on Sunday November 14th to 8,780 on Sunday, November 21.
- On November 15th, the day before her first fundraiser in Los Angeles, the Detroit News’ Craig Mauger reported that COVID-19 hospitalizations reached the highest point in seven months.
- On November 16th, the day Whitmer was in Los Angeles at Ambassador Bell’s house, The Detroit Free Press’ Kristen Jordan Shamus reported that while Whitmer was attending a private fundraiser, Michigan dropped to the worst state in the nation on COVID-19 testing positivity rates.
- On November 16th, WLNS’ Tim Skubick and Izzy Martin reported that hospital beds were filling up in Mid-Michigan and at a Sparrow Hospital in Charlotte.
- On November 17th, the day Whitmer was eating dinner with Gretchen Sission, WILX’s Cody Butler reported that Michigan was experiencing a shortage of rapid COVID-19 tests.
- On November 17th, WXYZ’s Kim Russell reported that ambulance companies were warning of “hemorrhaging” healthcare workers including EMTs and paramedics.
- On November 17th Detroit Free Press’ Dave Boucher and Kristen Jordan Shamus asks “is the state pandemic plan working.”
