In case you missed it, Stellantis announced yesterday that they may be laying off nearly 2,500 union employees at its plant in Warren, Michigan following a drop in profits.
This is the second round of expected layoffs from Stellantis this year. They previously laid off 199 people at its Sterling Heights plant in April.
“Stellantis is warning that it could lay off as many as 2,450 of the 3,700 union workers employed at a truck plant just outside of Detroit…The job cuts would be at the Stellantis Warren Truck Plant, which builds an older version of the Ram 1500 pickup called the Tradesman, sold mainly to commercial businesses. The company came out with a new version of the truck in 2018, and for the 2025 model year there’s a new Tradesman,” the Associated Press reported.
“U.S.-European automaker Stellantis reported that its net profits fell by half during the first six months of the year largely because of lower sales and restructuring costs.”
The layoffs will begin in October.
“Announcements like these would only be more common under a Harris-Walz administration. Their EV government mandates and radical energy policies would continue to decimate the auto industry, eliminating Michigan jobs and hurting our economy. This is what’s on the line in November, and why voters are going to send President Trump back to the White House.” Team Trump Michigan Communications Director Victoria LaCivita
