Michigan GOP Slams Biden on border issue

President Joe Biden this week announced the temporarily closure of the U.S. and Mexico border to migrants when the number of illegal crossings becomes excessive.
A group of Michigan Republican lawmakers held a news conference blasting Biden’s border policies, saying this move isn’t enough. Among them was Michigan Republican Party Chairman Pete Hoekstra.
“Two of the most important things I learned while at the border in Texas and Eagle Pass were two things Joe Biden could do today,” Hoekstra said. “One is do the remain in Mexico policy that President Trump had. And number two is implement the laws that are currently on the books saying if you’re found in the country illegally or if you cross into the country illegally, you have to go back to your country of origin and you cannot apply for any legal immigration status for at least 10 years. Those two changes right there would stem the tide of illegal immigration.”
The executive order would shut down asylum requests once the average number of daily encounters hits 2,500.
