We’ve always known that Curtis Hertel is a no-good, slimy Whitmer-ite that puts greed and power over Michiganders. I mean, that’s the Whitmer way.
But now, as he’s running for Congress against 20 plus year Army Veteran Tom Barrett, he’s been caught red-handed, according to the New York Post.
The Post reports that Hertel misused taxpayer funds while he was a lobbyist for Governor Whitmer. Hertel allocated millions for the Greater Flint Health Coalition in the state’s $82 million dollar budget last year.
Then he was hired by the same health care company DAYS after the budget passed.
Yesterday, political watchdog organization Americans for Public Trust asked the Michigan Inspector General to look into these allegations that Hertel misused his position and public funds in order to land that cushy new job.
Could you at least not be so obvious?
In 2023, the Detroit News highlighted the suspicious nature of this “coincidence” – but Hertel wasn’t running for public office at the time.
Now these concerns have much larger implications – who does Hertel really plan on serving in Congress? Michiganders, or his pockets?
The contrast between Hertel and Barrett couldn’t be clearer.
Barrett has a track record of putting service before self. Hertel puts himself before all.
Michiganders deserve better.
