LANSING, Mich. – Yesterday, President Trump visited Detroit to speak at the National Guard Association Conference on the third anniversary of the Abbey Gate bombing – the result of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal.

Following the speech, the President stopped by a local Trump Force 47 office to hand out pizza and thank his loyal volunteers.  Read what they are saying here:

Detroit Free Press: ‘Closer to World War III’ than ever, Trump Says in Michigan Speech

“Former President Donald Trump told a crowd of National Guard officers the world faces unprecedented dangers and positioned himself as uniquely capable of preventing threats he said the U.S. faces in a speech to the National Guard Association of the United States’ annual business meeting in Detroit on Monday.

“I don’t think we’ve ever been closer to World War III than we are now,” Trump said. He told the audience that serving as their commander-in-chief was the greatest honor of his life and cast his Democratic opponent Vice President Kamala Harris as a proponent of “endless war” on the same day Harris stood by President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from Afghanistan.”

“Trump told the National Guard personnel that he doesn’t want them “over there.” He said if he’s elected in November he would have the war between Russia and Ukraine settled “very fast.”

Trump’s remarks about Russia’s ongoing occupation of eastern Ukraine came amid a rapidly escalating war on both sides of the border of the two countries. Ukraine’s prime minister said Russia battered more than half the country Monday with attacks from drones, cruise missiles and hypersonic ballistic Kinzhal missiles. That offensive came after Ukraine’s military, aided by the United States, recently gained ground in Russia’s Kursk region, the biggest attack on Russian soil since World War II.”

“The voters are going to fire Kamala and Joe on Nov. 5, we hope, and when I take office we will ask for the resignations of every single official,” Trump told thousands of National Guard soldiers. “We’ll get the resignations of every single senior official who touched the Afghanistan calamity, to be on my desk at noon on Inauguration Day. You know, you have to fire people. You have to fire people when they do a bad job.”

“While many of his statements focused on themes that he normally highlights during rallies, like illegal immigration and foreign policy, Monday’s appearance included an endorsement from an ex-Democrat.

Tulsi Gabbard, who sought the Democratic ticket’s nomination in 2020 before dropping out and eventually leaving the party, gave brief remarks in support of the former president.

“He keeps us in his heart in the decision he makes,” she said of Trump.”

MLIVE: Kamala Harris will ‘never, ever, ever have your back,’ Trump tells National Guard in Detroit

“Trump began his remarks by thanking the National Guard, their spouses and children, and shared he’s had no greater honor in life than serving as commander-in-chief as the 45th president of the United States.

“When our country is hit by fire, flood or vicious storm America turns to the National Guard because we know we can always count on you, and I’ve counted on you a lot,” he said.

Trump said he will get the National Guard the support funding, training and equipment it needs along with the pay raises he said they deserve.”

“He said as president, he would increase military pay and veteran support, build an iron dome in the U.S. and create a Space Force National Guard.

“I’m in this fight to defeat the corrupt political class in Washington that’s hurting you very badly, whether we know it or not, and to reclaim America’s future as a free and sovereign nation ruled by the American people. When I’m back in the White House, we will expel the warmongers and profiteers and take over our government. And we will restore world peace, and it will be peace through strength,” Trump said to the crowd.

The theme of this year’s National Guard conference was “Built to Defend America.”
