The Detroit News: Trump Backs Requiring Insurance Companies Pay for IVF Costs
“In remarks from a Lansing area metals processing plant, the Republican presidential nominee announced the policy proposal as a “major statement” that reflected his campaign’s “pro-family” stance. He also said his administration would advance tax deductions for major “newborn expenses.”
“Your government will pay for, or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for, all costs associated with IVF treatment — fertilization for women,” Trump said from a stage at Alro Steel in Potterville. “Because we want more babies, to put it very nicely.”

“During his campaign stop in Potterville, Mich., his third visit to the state in a little over a week, Mr. Trump also said he would allow new parents to deduct major expenses for newborn children from their taxes, while providing few other details.
“Because we want more babies, to put it very nicely,” Mr. Trump said at a steel processing and distribution facility. He continued: “So we’re pro-family. Nobody’s ever said that before.”
“Trump bemoaned the Biden-Harris push to EVs, saying it will cause a mass exodus of autoworker jobs from the U.S. to foreign countries. Trump said he liked EVs but that they were far too expensive, many people don’t want them and they don’t have the driving range of gas-powered vehicles.
He added that what America needs is a mix of traditional vehicles, hybrids and EVs, so customers can buy what they want.”

“Trump’s first stop was Potterville, Michigan, near the state capital of Lansing, where he railed against the Biden administration over inflation in the most dramatic terms, accusing Harris and President Joe Biden of having presided over “an economic reign of terror” and “committing one financial atrocity after another.”
“Kamala has made middle-class life unaffordable and unlivable and I’m going to make America affordable again,” he vowed to supporters at Alro Steel.”

“Over the past four years Kamala and crooked Joe Biden have presided over an economic reign of terror committing one financial atrocity after another,” Trump said.
Trump announced during his speech that, under his administration, either the government would wholly subsidize in vitro fertilization treatments or insurance companies would be mandated to pay the full cost of the treatment.

“Your government or insurance company will be mandated to pay for all costs of IVF treatment,” he said during the event Thursday afternoon. IVF treatment, which is fertility treatment outside the body, has become a flash point in the debate of reproductive rights this election cycle.
“It’s the former president’s latest pivot on issues of reproductive health after Trump posted on social media last week that he would be “great for women and their reproductive rights.”

“The Republican presidential nominee used what had been promoted as a mid-Michigan economic speech to unveil what he called a “major” new national proposal on IVF, which typically costs more than $10,000.
“Your government will pay for, or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for, all costs” associated with the treatment, he said.
Trump also said that, if elected, he would “allow new parents to deduct newborn expenses from their taxes,” countering a recent proposal by Democratic nominee Kamala Harris to significantly expand a child tax credit for new parents.”

“In a new announcement, Trump said if elected he’d like to focus on ensuring IVF treatments are covered entirely by insurance and allow parents to deduct major newborn expenses from their taxes. He talked about this as a part of his focus on families and lowering costs. Trump had a particular focus on energy, he said he has a goal to cut energy costs in half within 12 months of taking office.”
