The Wall Street Journal today said that Kamala Harris is tiptoeing away from her previous stance on electric vehicle mandates.
You know what that reminds us of?
A child who knows they’ve done the wrong thing and got caught by their parents.
But this time, it’s Michigan autoworkers that have caught Kamala Harris – and in reality, she’s not walking back her stance – she’s avoiding telling Michiganders the truth.
Let’s recap, shall we?
- Kamala Harris supported the Zero Emission Vehicle Act of 2019
- Kamala advocated for the ban of internal combustion engine cars by 2035 during her 2020 campaign for President
- The Harris-Biden Administration pushed the EPA to enact regulations that will require that ⅔ of passenger cars and light trucks sold by 2032 to be electric or hybrid vehicles.
- Insisted that her “values have not changed”
And since she’s been a candidate, she’s refused to tell the American people whether or not she still has these same positions.
As AXIOS reported, “Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign won’t say whether she supports requiring automakers to build only electric or hydrogen vehicles by 2035 – a position she took during her 2020 campaign for president.”
Michiganders know how crucial this is. Studies have shown that Michigan will lose nearly 40,000 auto jobs if her policies are enacted.
Considering Stellantis announced TWO rounds of layoffs this week in Michigan, the threat is real.
Kamala Harris owes Michiganders the truth.
