Gov. Whitmer Vacations to Florida, Despite Telling Michiganders to Stay Home and Avoid Travel
Rules for thee, but not for me.
LANSING, MICH—Gov. Gretchen Whitmer vacationed to Florida, despite warning Michiganders against travel, and as Michigan’s COVID-19 cases surge to record levels.
Whitmer made the trip about a month ago, according to a report by MIRS News that was confirmed by the governor’s office.
Whitmer’s travel to Florida contradicts her Administrations’ 14 months of shutdown orders, lockdowns, and calls for Michiganders to stay home to stay safe.
“Gretchen Whitmer’s blatant display of hypocrisy is an insult to every single Michigander impacted by her lockdown orders and travel warnings,” said Ted Goodman, Communications Director of the Michigan Republican Party. “Not only did Whitmer and her top staffers vacation to Florida, but they tried to keep it a secret because for Whitmer, it’s—rules for thee, but not for me.”

Gretchen Whitmer’s travel to Florida comes just a week after it was reported that her top health official—charged with directing the state’s COVID-19 response—spent Spring Break in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Another top Whitmer aid, Tricia Foster, who is responsible for the state’s vaccine distribution, vacationed to Florida.
