Former Democrat Rising Star David Knezek is Double Dipping On The Taxpayer’s Dime
LANSING, MICH—MIGOP Co-Chair Meshawn Maddock responds to news that Elizabeth Hertel-appointed Deputy Director of the Department of Health and Human Services, David Knezek, is double dipping off the taxpayer’s dime, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Knezek, a member of the Wayne County Commission where he makes $62,592 per year, was brought on to serve as one of three chief deputy directors of DHHS under Hertel. Serving in both capacities is a blatant conflict of interest at the taxpayer’s expense.
“This is just one more example of self-serving Democrats fleecing taxpayers as working Michiganders continue to suffer,” said Meshawn Maddock, Co-Chair of the Michigan Republican Party. “While tens of thousands of Michiganders are struggling from restrictive Democrat shutdown policies, they pad their own pockets at our expense”
Knezek earns $155,000 per year as a deputy at DHHS, and works at least 40 hours a week, according to the Free Press. Distinguished law professors across Michigan said there appears to be a conflict of interest.
