Gov. Whitmer, never one to shy from the national media spotlight, hasn’t provided an update in 19 days.
LANSING, MICH—Michigan continues to lead the nation in new COVID-19 cases despite Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s draconian lockdown measures and government orders that permanently closed small businesses, kept children out of schools, destroyed livelihoods and led to unnecessary deaths inside nursing homes.
No stranger to the national media spotlight, Whitmer hasn’t provided an update in 19 days. Michiganders deserve to know why the vaccine roll-out was bungled, and why the draconian lockdown measures continue despite the failed results.

Michigan recorded 39,637 new cases and 192 deaths over the course of the past week, the sixth weekly increase in a row, according to the Detroit News.
“Despite Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s onerous lockdown policies and draconian shutdown orders, Michigan leads the nation in new COVID-19 cases,” said Ted Goodman, Communications Director of the Michigan Republican Party. “Whitmer has been more focused on the political science rather than the actual science surround this pandemic from the start, which is why Michigan is seeing an increase in new cases while most of the country is seeing a decrease.”
