Gov. Whitmer Lied, and Continues to Hide, Details of Out-of-State Travel While Warning Michiganders to Stay Home
LANSING, MICH.—Evenafter news broke that Gov. Whitmer recently traveled out of state to visit her father, she refuses to say when, where, and for how long, she was out-of-state.
“The issue isn’t that Gov. Whitmer visited her father, it’s that she lied about the trip, and still won’t share details, after 14 months of policies that denied the same opportunity for Michiganders who were locked out of hospitals and nursing homes to visit their loved ones,” said Ted Goodman, Communications Director of the Michigan Republican Party.
Gov. Whitmer made the visit approximately four weeks ago, despite her own recent warnings against traveling to Florida, where top staffers of hers visited for vacation. She then lied about the visit on a MIRS podcast last week, telling host Kyle Melin that, “I was here in town the whole time.”
Being governor means being a leader, and you sacrifice a certain level of privacy that others enjoy. Leaders don’t hide, they lead. She tried to hide this.
