Michiganders Deserve Answers

1. Has Gov. Whitmer traveled out of state for anything other than official business?

2. How did vacation travel of top staffers in charge of COVID-19 response impact the Whitmer Administration’s failure to secure over 360,000 vaccines that wereoriginally meant for the state?

Whitmer defended her policy decisions made through out pandemic and directed blame at the people of Michigan, referring to a “compliance” problem. She insisted that she would not review her own policy decisions, even as 3,998 adults in Michigan remain hospitalized with COVID, the second highest total the state has recorded after Monday, when 4,011 adults were hospitalized.

“It’s not a policy problem. It’s a variant and compliance problem,” Whitmer asserted.

“Instead of offering data and science to explain her past and future policies to deal with the unprecedented COVID surge, Gov. Whitmer is blaming Michiganders and refusing to take any responsibility,” said Ted Goodman, Communications Director of the Michigan Republican Party. “Gov. Whitmer’s incompetence and incoherent lockdown strategy failed Michiganders and we are paying the price in so many ways.”

Whitmer also defended vacations by top health aides to Florida and Alabama.

“I’m not going to get distracted by partisan hit jobs on my team,” Whitmer said when asked to explain why Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Director, Elizabeth Hertel chose to vacation to Gulf Shores, Alabama last week at a time when Michigan leads the nation in new COVID-19 cases.

Important to note is that before traveling south to Alabama and Florida, Hertel and Foster forgot to request 360,000 vaccinations available from the federal government for the state of Michigan.

The Washington Post revealed that the Whitmer administration failed to request 360,000 vaccinations available to the state, something the Biden Administration brought to Whitmer’s attention.
