Michigan GOP Issues Statement Regarding Newly Proposed Draft Redistricting Maps
LANSING, MI – After the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission yesterday announced its first 10 proposed draft maps, the Michigan Republican Party issued the following statement:
“At this point in the process, there are way more questions than answers. The most concerning so far is the fact that they are ignoring ranked priorities according to the constitution. They’ve failed to follow the rules when it comes to imposed deadlines, priorities, and transparency. We’ll continue to monitor this process closely and will advocate for a transparent way to make Michiganders aware of what this commission is doing and that they produce fair maps.” — Gustavo Portela, MIGOP Communications Director
