MIGOP Blames Whitmer, Biden for New Record High Gas Prices and Says Inflation Continues to be Top of Mind for Michiganders

May 12 2022

Lansing, MI – The Michigan Republican Party criticized Gretchen Whitmer and Joe Biden for their incompetent leadership that has led to a new all time high for gas prices in Michigan:

“The average price for a regular, unleaded gallon of gas was $4.35 on Wednesday, hitting an all-time high in Michigan. People across the state, especially low-income communities, continue to feel the sting of Democrat-induced inflation every time they get in their cars or assess their family budgets,” said Gustavo Portela, MIGOP Communications Director. “Gretchen Whitmer had a chance to bring relief to Michiganders with a Republican-led plan to implement a state gas tax holiday, but instead she vetoed the legislation. As gas prices continue hitting new historic highs, the decisions and sacrifices made by parents and workers will only get more tough. The light at the end of the tunnel is knowing we will give Gretchen Whitmer the boot this November and elect a Republican governor who will bring economic prosperity back to Michigan.”
