Lansing, MI – The Michigan Republican Party released the following statement after Gretchen Whitmer vetoed Michigan Republicans’ plan to suspend the state gas tax, which would have brought immediate relief to Michiganders:
“Once again, Gretchen Whitmer shows her true colors as an out of touch career politician who cares more about climbing the political ladder than to actually help Michiganders at a time of extreme need,” said Gustavo Portela, MIGOP Communications Director. “Vetoing immediate relief at the pump would have helped Michiganders keep more of their hard-earned dollars at a time when that is needed most. Instead, Gretchen Whitmer, just like Joe Biden, thinks it’s ok for working class Michiganders living paycheck to paycheck to pay more to make a living. We’re going to fire her and all her cronies this fall.”
