MIGOP Blasts Whitmer’s Lack of Effort to Get Kids Back Into Classrooms as Reason for Reading Deficiencies, Learning Loss Across the State
LANSING, MICH – The Michigan Republican Party, today, blasted Gretchen Whitmer’s lack of effort to help get our kids back into the classroom as a report from the Detroit News wrote about a study that found more than half of Michigan students between first and third grades had reading deficiencies:
“The situation our students are facing in Michigan is dire thanks to Gretchen Whitmer’s allies forcing students to learn remotely even after studies have shown remote learning to not be effective,” said Gustavo Portela, MIGOP Communications Director. “Our students continue falling behind on their reading and it’s clear Gretchen Whitmer will continue to bow down to her allies at the expense of our children. That’s yet another reason why we must retire her and replace her incompetent leadership with a Republican Governor who will stand up for our children and help get them back into the classrooms to learn once again.”
