“Gretchen Whitmer is seeing the same political winds we’re seeing and she’s in danger so much so that she’s constantly trailed a generic Republican,” said Gustavo Portela, MIGOP Deputy Chief of Staff & Communications Director. “We see right through her newfound religion on tax cuts for working class families where the last time she was given the opportunity to not only cut taxes for working class Michiganders, but also suspend the gas tax, she showed her true colors as an out of touch elitist choosing instead to veto measures that would have provided immediate relief. It’s clear she’s continuing to follow the political science as she has all along.”
In March, Gretchen Whitmer vetoed a Michigan Republican plan that would have restored the child tax credit, cut the state income tax, and provided a tax break for Michigan seniors.
