MIGOP Issues Statement on SOS Court Filing That Would Require Gretchen Whitmer to Return Illegally Raised Campaign Contributions
LANSING, MI – The Michigan Republican Party today released the following statement after a new filing from Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson supports an MIGOP lawsuit that would require Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to return or donate millions of dollars in illegally raised campaign contributions:
“Gretchen Whitmer has illegally raised funds in excess of Michigan’s contribution limit by claiming a recall exception for a recall that doesn’t exist,” said Gustavo Portela, Communications Director for the Michigan Republican Party. “We’ll fight in court to ensure that campaign finance rules continue to be applied fairly across the board for all candidates running for Governor because no one is above the law.”
