MIGOP Releases Statement Following First Republican Gubernatorial Debate

May 12 2022

Lansing, MI – The Michigan GOP released the following statement after Republican candidates for governor gathered in Livingston County for their first gubernatorial debate:

“Tonight, Republican candidates for Governor were open and spent more time taking questions than Gretchen Whitmer has, especially with the many boondoggles within her administration,” said Gustavo Portela, MIGOP Deputy Chief of Staff and Communications Director. “At the end of the day, Michiganders would be better off with a Republican as Governor who will get to work on accomplishing what voters are seeking, keeping more of what they earn, fixing the damn roads, and a transparent government. We tried a four-year experiment with Gretchen Whitmer and her Democrat cronies that simply did not work to the benefit of Michiganders and we’re confident voters will change that this fall.”
