LANSING, MICH – The Michigan Republican Party issued the following statement after it was revealed that Democrats’ pro-abortion petition initiative language has been riddled with more than 40 serious errors as they attempt to enshrine it into the state constitution:
“It is inexcusable to ask voters to enshrine into the constitution an amendment riddled with serious errors as they chase down their pipe dream of abortion on demand up until birth,” said Elizabeth Giannone, MIGOP Deputy Communications Director. “With 43 significant mistakes in the language of this constitutional amendment, it would have been near impossible for voters to have fully read and understood the petition they were signing, and it is even more concerning how unfazed petition organizers appear by the error. It’s even more damning that Gretchen Whitmer and Dana Nessel have staked their re-election on this, are both lawyers and didn’t catch the mistakes. Not only are the Democrats extreme on abortion, but they are also apparently inept at organizing their own radical efforts to make Michigan one of the most extreme states in the nation with on demand abortion up until birth. It would be a travesty for something this error ridden to be added to our constitution, and the petition should be invalidated and thrown out immediately.”
