MIGOP Slams Whitmer’s Economic Failures Following the Release of New Data from the Department of Commerce

March 23 2022

Lansing, MI – The Michigan Republican Party released the following statement after the U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis released their 2021 Q4 personal income growth data early on Wednesday:

“Michigan already has one of the worst unemployment rates in the whole country and in the Midwest, so it’s sadly not surprising to learn that state income lags behind the rest of the nation, too, ranking 49th,” said Gustavo Portela, MIGOP Communications Director. “While inflation soared, Michigan wage growth failed to catch up, leaving Michiganders in the dust and obstructing their ability to provide for their loved ones. This is a direct result of Gretchen Whitmer’s economic failures and draconian lockdowns, and come November, Michiganders will elect a Republican governor who will usher in a new era of prosperity for all.”
