The Michigan Republican Party Announces Straw Poll Partnership with MIRS News Ahead of Nominating Convention

August 18 2022

LANSING, MICH – The Michigan Republican Party announced it will host a straw poll in partnership with MIRS News at the upcoming state party convention to ask delegates and alternates about their preferences in the 2024 Republican primary race for president and U.S. Senate.

“The Michigan Republican Party is proud to partner with MIRS News on such an important project, where state convention delegates will let their voices be heard,” said Ambassador Ron Weiser, Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. “The future of our state and country are at stake this fall and that’s why as a party we’re continuing to be a united force to defeat Gretchen Whitmer. With the 2024 elections around the corner, Republicans are united behind ensuring Joe Biden doesn’t return to the White House and this will be a crucial opportunity for delegates to make their voices heard as to who they’ll support.”

In announcing the partnership, MIRS News had the following to say:

“It’s not too early to get a sense of where the grassroots of the Republican Party are at this point in time on who they would like to see run in 2024,” said MIRS Publisher John Reurink. “We’re as interested as anyone to see the results and pleased to be able to help make this happen.”

The State Republican Nominating Convention will take place in Lansing, Michigan at the Lansing Center on August 27th, where MIGOP Gubernatorial Nominee Tudor Dixon will announce her running mate. Governor Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) will end the convention weekend as the keynote speaker at the MIGOP’s Red Wave Party.
