Whitmer Dodges Questions On Health Chief Resignation

January 25 2021

LANSING, Mich., January 25, 2021 – In a press conference today regarding the state’s COVID response, Governor Whitmer dodged questions regarding the sudden resignation of the head of Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services, Robert Gordon. When pressed by reporters Kathy Gray and Rick Albin, Whitmer refused to indicate the circumstances surrounding the vacancy, including whether she asked him to resign.

“Governor Whitmer is yet again hiding the truth from the people of Michigan, and her lack of transparency on what’s happening with Robert Gordon and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services amidst a pandemic, is unconscionable.” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox. Cox continued, “I am again calling on Governor Whitmer to fulfill her campaign promise and subject her administration to the Freedom of Information Act. Her handling of the pandemic in Michigan has been a disaster, and Michiganders have a right to know why.”
