LANSING, MICH—Recent polling reveals how just far Gov. Whitmer’s job approval rating on the pandemic has fallen since the summer of 2020. Whitmer’s approval rating has cratered from 69% in June, down to 52% just eight months later.

“Gov. Whitmer’s incoherent and incompetent pandemic response has destroyed small businesses, kept kids from a proper education, and ruined entire livelihoods,” said Ted Goodman, Communications Director of the Michigan Republican Party. “More and more Michiganders are realizing the true damage of Whitmer’s hypocrisy and poor leadership, which is why her approval rating is in a tailspin.”
The Covid States Project, a collaboration between researchers at Harvard, Rutgers, Northeastern, and Northwestern universities, found that Michigan voters have soured on Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s incoherent and heavy-handed pandemic response.
The researchers asked people in each of the 50 states to rate the performance of their governor as part of a larger COVID-19 pandemic study.
